Moated castle Taufkirchen (Vils)

For centuries, the moated castle has shaped the image and history of Taufkirchen (Vils). It is not known when and by whom the castle was originally built. Traces of a manor house in this place can be traced back to the Middle Ages.

The castle was first mentioned in 1263 in a document, which is thus considered the "birth certificate" of the Taufkirchen moated castle. The municipality of Taufkirchen (Vils) took this date as an opportunity to organize a 750th anniversary celebration for the cultural gem of the place in 2013.The official festivities took place over two weekends from 31 May to 2 June and from 7 to 9 June 2013 with a medieval market.
